Postcards from Camp

Summary

Bear Poop had a great year in 2012, making it all the way to the YFFL Super Bowl. The year got off to a tough start as the Bear dropped their first two games, but they then got on track and started winning. Although the Bear were winning, they weren't winning big, which caused the league to be slow to take this team seriously. Once this team acquired T.Y. Hilton from the Chickens they really took off and started to hammer some teams, averaging 55 points a game over the five games leading up to the Super Bowl. The Bear were led all season by YFFL Hall of Famer Tom Brady and 3rd round pick Alfred Morris. Morris turned out to be the biggest steal in the YFFL draft in the last few years as every owner was afraid to pull the trigger and deal with another Shanahan practical joke on fantasy owners. Morris scored 70 points on his way to Rookie of the Year honors and posted another 34 points in the playoffs. In the end, the Bear couldn't quite overcome a red hot Drew Brees and the Chickens in the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady Making the switch to Cam Newton would free up Tom Brady to pursue other interests

Critical Question

Is it time to pass the torch to Cam Newton? Brady had another fine season but he is facing a ton of questions this offseason. If it looks like the Patriots are going to more of a ground based offense, Bri might need to look to make the switch. Newton was a beast at the end of last season and he isn't going to take kindly to being stuck on the bench for another whole season.

Player to Watch

T.Y. Hilton, WR IND - While the trade that netted Hilton left some scratching their heads, in the end it looks like Bri walked away with the best player in the deal. For some reason the Colts coaching staff is making Hilton work harder for a role in the offense than he should have to, but from what I can tell this kid has the makings of a star WR. If Hilton has an 80 point season this year it wouldn't be surprising.

Lineup

Tom Brady, Alfred Morris, TY Hilton, Greg Jennings, James Jones, Jermichael Finley, Rob Bironas, Draft Pick

Outlook

Can this team do it again? There was no question that for everything that went wrong for the Brothers in 2012, something went right for the Bear. The Bear are playing in likely the weakest division in the YFFL and that should help them keep their momentum going in 2013. They do have some obstacles to overcome early in the season though. Blackmon is suspended for four games and is one mishap from a one year ban. Greg Jennings went from playing with the best QB in the NFL to the worst and will need to prove he can still produce. And lastly, Titus Young has been thrown out of the NFL. I think Brady, Morris and Hilton give this team a core they can lean on as they finish second in their division, but win the Wild Card.
