Postcards from Camp

Summary

The 2013 Huskers came out of nowhere and opened the season 7-0 and had everyone wondering if we were witnessing YFFL history. They crushed everyone they faced and it seemed like every player they inserted into the lineup had been given some PEDs and suddenly been turned into a superstar. Josh Gordon returned from a 2 game suspension to lead the NFL in receiving. Knowshon Moreno finally turned into the player he was expected to be when drafted back in the day. Julius Thomas came off the practice squad to become the next big thing at TE. The only thing that backfired was trading a boatload of draft picks for Ray Rice, who was worn down and overweight. The Huskers made it all the way to the NFC Championship game where they came up just short in a surprisingly low scoring affair to the Chickens 34-32.

Tony Dungy Book Huskers owner Kevin Sansone commissioned Tony Dungy to write a personalized book just for his team in an attempt to get his squad under control

Critical Question

Can Kevin gain control of his clubhouse? Josh Gordon is lost for the season to a suspension. Ray Rice is missing the first few games for dragging women around like a caveman. Russell Wilson spends his entire offseason filming commercials. Kevin needs to get these guys to buy into his offseason program in the future or he is going to run this franchise right into the ground.

Player to Watch

Zach Ertz, TE (PHI) - Ertz is going to have some big shoes to fill after the Julius Thomas trade. The Eagles are expecting big things this season and the hype surrounding him made Kevin feel comfortable enough that he could flip his star TE for a WR to plug the hole left by Gordon.

Lineup

Russell Wilson, Montee Ball, Knowshon Moreno, Randall Cobb, Brandon Marshall, Zach Ertz, Mason Crosby, Cordarelle Patterson

Outlook

The Huskers have taken some hits this offseason, but they still have more than enough to compete for a playoff spot in the NFC. Wilson looks like he is about to take a leap and be a Top 10 QB in the YFFL, Ball and Patterson are poised for breakout campaigns, and the Bears are scheming ways to get Marshall, a guy who already catches 100 balls, even more touches. I think it will come down to the final 3 games once again for the Huskers.

Projections

8-5; 650 Points; 3rd NFC West
