Boys Again Turn To Favre

The Big Boys opened camp this week with a familiar face behind center. Brett Favre, entering his 47th season in the YFFL, shunned away notions that this would be yet another rebuilding year for the once powerful dynasty of the late-90s. Management and critics begged Favre to hang up his fantasy cleats in the off-season and to make way for youngsters Kyle Boller and Quincy Carter. But Boller's struggles on the field and Carter's struggles off the field have led Davidson no choice but to re-sign Favre to a long-term deal that will keep him in a Boys uniform for another 47 years.

Player to Watch

Nearly five years after being drafted with a top 5 pick, Thomas Jones is finally showing Chris Davidson why he was worth the early draft pick. Jones has unseated incumbent Anthony Thomas as the Bears starting RB and should be able to add some much needed boost to the Bears otherwise pathetic offense. Look for Jones to score between 6-9 fantasy TD's this season.

Whatever Happened To...

The Boys entire WR corps??? It's like a "who's who of WR's who never panned out". Peerless Price and Reggie Wayne will likely start but both players score too irregularly. Joey Galloway should see time at the UT position but won't be a crucial factor now that he plays in Tampa. With this in mind, the Boys should draft...

Roy Williams of the Detroit Lions! Assuming Eli Manning is taken with one of the top 4 picks, Williams would be a perfect cure for the Boys otherwise horrible WR's.

Outlook

The Boys should be able to match last season's win total of four but will struggle to win more than that. Davidson is determined to make Favre the bridge between the Boys' championship past and uncertain future. Thomas Jones and Michael Bennett will have to carry the scoring weight on their backs to make up for a weak WR corps. Jeremy Shockey seems poised for a break-out season.

Prediction

4-9, 3rd NFC East
