Unstoppable?

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

Are we looking at the YFFL's first team to go undefeated? The White Guys improved to 7-0 for the second consecutive season with a 74-48 victory over the Merry Men that saw Todd Gurley and Kareem Hunt combined for 42 points.

It was Gurley's third straight 20+ point game in what is shaping up to be a season for the ages. Through 7 games, he is now averaging more than 17 points a game and is on track to become just the second RB to score 200+ points in a season and challenge LaDainian Tomlinson's record of 222 points in 2006.

The White Guys have done all of this despite receiving just 48 points from Alex Smith at quarterback, which begs the question - will they attempt to deal for a QB as the trade deadline approaches? After limping to a 2-4 finish to the regular season in 2017 before catching fire again in the playoffs, owner Anthony Aceto surely hopes to avoid a repeat of last year's late season swoon.

Elsewhere around the league, the White Guys were the lone bright spot for the NFC as they went 0-7 against the AFC in the other games, including a pair of 1-point losses as the Refugees edged the Mallards and the Thugs won over the Boys. The rash of AFC wins further tightened the playoff race in the AFC East, as one game separates all four teams. It's also the only division where all teams have a winning record.
