Julio (Finally) On the Move

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

August 30, 2019

On the trading block for as long as many of us can remember, Julio Jones is finally moving on from the Mexican Humping Beans.

The Beans dealt Jones to the Huskers in exchange for RB Marlon Mack on Friday.

With 50 or more points in each of the last 5 seasons, Jones should have been a highly sought after component for any number of YFFL franchises, but dig a bit deeper and the frustrations that former owner Bobby Sansone has experienced become very evident.

While still racking up yards on a weekly basis, Jones endured a stretch from late 2016 to mid 2018 where he scored just 3 touchdowns over the span of 22 games. While Jones bounced back with three consecutive TD-scoring games in late 2018, the Beans were still actively shopping him in order to bolster one of the weakest backfields in the league.

They hope they found their man in Mack, who returned from injury midway through the 2018 season to score 50 points over 7 games.

Jones will join a revitalized Huskers team that recently added Damien Williams and Josh Jacobs in the draft, and will hope that David Johnson can return to his 2016 form and Russell Wilson can continue his sterling play at the QB position in a bid for the NFC West crown.
