With championship hopes riding high, Steve Dugas and the Fightin' Mallards made a bold move during Week 1 of the YFFL season by trading away a 1st Round pick for embattled receiver Antonio Brown, who had just recently been signed by the New England Patriots.
I think we all know how that turned out.
Looking to get rid of the bad taste in their mouth, today they dealt for a much safer bet.
The Mallards acquired WR DeAndre Hopkins and TE Austin Hooper from the Dragons in exchange for a future 2020 or 2021 1st Round draft pick (originally of the Llamas), a 2021 1st Round draft pick and TE Hunter Henry.
Hopkins has stayed out of the headlines and let his performance speak for itself, posting 80+ points in 3 of the last 4 seasons en route to becoming one of the safest bets in the YFFL. Meanwhile, Hooper will bolster a TE position that has been ravaged by injury.
Off to a 0-4 start, the Dragons will hope for brighter days ahead with the addition of the picks and the currently injured Henry.
