Might vs. White

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

December 22, 2020

The matchup for Super Bowl XXVIII is set.

The Burger Buddies will take on the High 5'n White Guys in a rematch of Super Bowl XXVI as the last two league MVPs (Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson) square off against each other.

For the Buddies, a claim to the "best team ever" is very much on the line. After piling up 813 points in the regular season (good for 2nd all-time) and an 11-2 record, they delivered their sixth game scoring 70+ points this season in order to outlast the Orangutangs in the AFC Championship. The victory came despite former Buddies QB Ryan Tannehill scoring five times(!) for the Tangs. However, the Kansas City trio of Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Harrison Butker completed the comeback Sunday afternoon to send the Buddies to their third straight Super Bowl, joining the Dragons (1999-2001) as the only other team to accomplish that feat.

Meanwhile, the White Guys enacted revenge on the Chickens in the NFC Championship thanks to the unlikeliest of heroes. After falling to the Chickens in last year's opening round of the playoffs in the highest scoring game in YFFL history (93-81) and failing to claim the YFFL's first three-peat, the White Guys benefitted from an early TD from TE Jordan Reed (just his second in two seasons), a miraculous hail-mary-garbage-time-TD from WR Kendrick Bourne (his first YFFL points ever!) and two TDs(!) from WR Greg Ward(!!) to seal the victory.

Will the defending champion Buddies do what the 2004 Chickens couldn't and take home a championship after scoring 800+ points in the regular season and lay their claim to the best of all-time or will the White Guys, winners of two of the last three Super Bowls (and the only team to ever go undefeated) become the first team to win three Super Bowls in four years? The two teams that have dominated the headlines for the last four seasons will meet to settle the score. Super Bowl XXVIII is here!
