When Russell Wilson went down to injury in Week 5, it looked like another season where high expections were going to be dashed for owner Kevin Sansone and the UCornn Huskers.

However, backup Carson Wentz has filled in admirably over the last two weeks, scoring five touchdowns in that span and leading the Huskers to victories over the Mallards and the Buddies.

This past week's matchup with the Buddies pitted the league's two Super Bowl favorites and was one of the most hotly anticipated regular season match-ups in recent memory. However, after lighting the YFFL on fire with an average of over 72 points per game thru the first six games, the Buddies fell flat on their face with a measly 25 points including 0 from Patrick Mahomes, the first time he has failed to score any points in a YFFL start.

With the victory, the Huskers retained a 2 game lead in the NFC West at the midpoint of the season. However, with the surging Dragons and defending champion White Guys on tap before Wilson's targeted return in Week 10, Wentz and the Huskers will have to stay sharp to keep atop the NFC and perhaps meet the Buddies again somewhere down the road.

Elsewhere around the league, Bear Poop took back the top spot in the AFC East thanks to 52 combined points from the trio of Tom Brady, Cooper Kupp and Michael Pittman Jr., six different players on the Chickens scored touchdowns to deliver a victory in what may have been a must-win game to stay in the playoff mix at 3-3-1, and the tough luck continued for the Brothers and Thugs, who both dropped to 0-7 on the season.
