Contenders or Pretenders?

It was a tough week for several teams with hopes of making a run to Super Bowl XXIX.

Russell Wilson made his highly anticipated return to the Huskers lineup only to post zero points as owner Kevin Sansone's entire team fizzled. They managed just 12 points and have now lost back-to-back games after starting the season 7-1. With a comfortable 2.5 game lead in the NFC West and just 4 games remaining, their playoff prospects still seem firmly in-hand, but after high expections coming into this year, anything but a championship would surely be a disappointment.

Meanwhile, the Big Boys managed to survive last week without Kyler Murray, but they couldn't keep pace with the Buddies without him again in Week 10. After struggling for several weeks, Patrick Mahomes reminded everyone how dangerous he can be by tossing 5 touchdowns on Sunday night (including 2 to Tyreek Hill) to torch the Boys. The loss dropped the Boys out of the top spot in the NFC East as the surging White Guys won their sixth game in a row to claim first place.

Lastly, Bear Poop couldn't overcome early game struggles from Tom Brady and dropped an ugly 24-30 contest to the Dragons. They are now 0-4 when Brady scores less than 20 points and remain knotted in a three-way tie for the AFC East.

With the trade deadline looming in just a couple days, will these Week 10 struggles motivate these contenders to bolster their lineups for a stretch run? We'll see as Thursday night and the return of divisional play approaches.
