Whatever It Takes

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

For the second time in three weeks, Tom Brady answered the bell when Bear Poop had their backs against the wall.

Down by 17 points headed into the afternoon games on Sunday, the AFC East champs needed Brady to deliver one of his best games of a down season if they were going to advance to the AFC Championship. After two touchdowns in the first half, it was looking good for owner Brian Davidson's squad. However, Brady and the Bucs soon faltered, putting their match-up with the Market Thugs in jeopardy.

Down by 5 and just minutes remaining, Brady drove the field in a meaningless NFL sequence that meant everything in the YFFL, ultimately hitting Russell Gage for a TD with just 49 seconds left on the clock to secure a victory for Bear Poop and continue his quest to bring home his first YFFL championship. Poop will now square off against the mighty Buddies, owners of the 2nd most points scored in league history with a trip to Super Bowl XXX on the line.

Over in the NFC, the NFC East champion White Guys faced an uphill climb without a starting QB and fell behind early in a very surprising way. WR Zay Jones, who started just one game this season (his only start in a 6 year career), hauled in 3 TD's in what has to be one of the most shocking performances in YFFL history.

Coupled with 4 TD's from QB Joe Burrow, the Wild Card Beans cruised to an easy 65-32 victory. They will face off with the 13-1 Chickens in the NFC Championship Game and will be looking to punch a ticket to their first Super Bowl appearance in nearly 20 years.

With injury questions surrounding the Chickens' MVP candidate QB Jalen Hurts, will the Beans be able to continue their ascendancy and bring home their first championship in team history? We'll find out soon enough as championship week kicks off this Thursday and continues right through Christmas.
