A match-up between two middle-of-the-road NFL teams served up plenty of excitement in the YFFL on Monday night.

The undefeated seasons of the Brothers and Refugees were hanging in the balance as we headed into the final game of Week 5 and both teams emerged unscathed.

For the Brothers, an early touchdown from WR Jakobi Meyers put the finishing touches on a massive comeback against the upstart Llamas, who jumped out to an early lead thanks to 4 touchdowns from QB Justin Fields (his second consecutive 4-TD game) on Thursday night. However, the Brothers were able to chip away with 2 TDs from rookie TE Sam LaPorta and yet another touchdown from RB Christian McCaffrey (his 8th in 5 games) before Myers delivered the knockout blow to deliver a slim 51-49 victory.

For the Refugees, it was a matter of inaction on Monday night as WR Davante Adams failed to find the end zone and the Chickens' furious comeback attempt was denied, despite 3 late afternoon touchdowns from TE George Kittle. YFFL leading scorer QB Josh Alen led the way yet again for the Refugees with 3 scores and electric rookie RB De'Von Achane continued his hot streak with 151 yards rushing and a TD. The win kept the Refugees undefeated at 5-0 and maintained an early 3-game edge on the rest of the AFC East.

Elsewhere around the league, a pair of teams benefited from two transcendent WR performances: the Dragons remained unbeaten thanks to WR Ja'Marr Chase (3 touchdowns, 192 yards receiving) and the Huskers notched their first victory of the season in large part due to WR DJ Moore (3 touchdowns, 230 yards receiving), Meanwhile, the struggles continued for a number of teams as the Llamas, Merry Men, Thugs, Boys and Poop all still sit at just 1 win thru 5 games. With just 6 tems boasting a winning record, it's a definite case of have's and have not's only five games into the 2023 season.
