Good Buddies

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

They may have been the only division leader with a loss heading into Week 7, but QB Patrick Mahomes and the Buddies proved yet again that they're the gold standard in the YFFL.

In a possible AFC Championship preview, the Buddies and Refugees set off plenty of fireworks (49 combined points at the QB position, 6 combined players in double figures, 146 total points scored) but the Buddies ultimately prevailed thanks to Mahomes' best game since Week 1 of last season.

After a Week 2 loss, the Buddies have sort of flown under the radar most of the season despite averaging 53+ points a game, mostly due to the undefeated records and prolific output of the Refugees in the AFC East and the Brothers in the NFC West. However, owner Mike Kinsman's team put the league on notice that a trip to the Super Bowl will undoubtably go through his team that is now 66-19 in the regular season since Mahomes took the reigns at quarterback in 2018.

Elsewhere around the league, the Monday night game once again played a huge role as the Dragons were able to fend off a late charge from RB Christian McCaffrey and the Brothers with help from a 55-yard field goal from K Jake Moody to remain the league's only undefeated team in another match-up of division leaders, TE George Kittle eked out a victory for the Chickens over the Mallards with 2 points on Monday night, and the Orangutangs failed to garner the touchdown they needed and fell to the Eaters in a battle for the AFC Wild Card.
