From Bad to Worst

Jon Kinsman, YFFL Commissioner

November 07, 2023

After some Monday night heroics(?) from the Mallards' K Cameron Dicker, the UCornn Huskers dropped to 1-7-1 on the season and their former Super Bowl champion QB Rich Gannon has seen enough. Gannon called for owner Kevin Sansone's outright removal from the league after witnessing the Huskers muster just a combined 101 points in their last 4 games (an average of 25 per game).

Less than two years removed from winning the NFC West in 2021, the Huskers managed just 5 wins last season and will struggle to match that total this year. RB Aaron Jones has been shipped out of town, RB Josh Jacobs may be soon on the way, and 2-time Pro Bowl QB Russell Wilson was benched in favor of rookie QB Bryce Young in Week 9. Suffice to say, things are not looking good for Sansone's squad and we haven't even mentioned the 1-8 Llamas, who dropped their 5th straight game this week and have just 1 playoff appearance in the last 12 years.

Will Gannon light a fire and rekindle the magic of that 2002 team that went 12-1 enroute to a championship?

Not if Rico Dowdle has anything to say about it.

Elsewhere around the league, the race(?) for the AFC Wild Card tightened up as 5 teams with losing records are all within 1 game of each other, the Dragons dropped their second consecutive game in a putrid effort that saw them score just 18 points and raised questions about their viability as title contenders, and the Chickens continued their hot streak with a third straight win, but will be hard pressed to catch the Brothers, who maintained a 3-game lead with just 5 left to play with a gritty win over the Boys despite missing some key players on bye.
