The Thrill of the Chase

After opening the season 7-0 and tying the franchise record of 12 wins, the Dragons seemed to have arrived in 2023 after toiling in mediocrity for six seasons. Despite a loss to the Brothers in the NFC Championship game, things were looking up heading into the 2024 season.

However, a 0-3 start and lingering questions of whether QB Trevor Lawrence would ever live up to the hype casted those hopes into doubt.

Fast forward 2 weeks and the Dragons are one of the league's hottest teams after posting back-to-back 60+ point efforts as they attempt to climb back into the NFC East race. WR Ja'Marr Chase led the charge in Week 5 by delivering one of his finest performances to date (193 yards and 2 TDs) and Lawrence passed for 371 yards and 2 scores in an effort to overcome early season struggles.

The Dragons will match-up against the Brothers in Week 6, another team that stumbled out of the gates despite heavy preseason expectations but have righted the ship and won three straight games. This pivotal rematch of last year's NFC Championship between consensus divisional favorites will certainly have wide reaching ramifications in the NFC as we approach the midpoint of the season.

Elsewhere around the league, QB Joe Burrow tossed a career high 5 TDs and the Beans sprang an upset over the Merry Men, the Refugees suffered their first loss of the season, and a depleted Mallards teams gutted out a tough win over the Eaters thanks to 2 TDs from TE Tucker Kraft to stay ahead in the NFC East at 3-1-1.
