Well, it doesn't get much closer than that.
With so much on the line in the final game of the YFFL regular season, the Merry Men passed the Refugees in points scored thanks to an early CeeDee Lamb touchdown and then were able to hold off RB Chase Brown and the Buddies to secure the AFC West crown and a bye in the AFC by a slim margin of 2 points.
The point differential was expected to be close between the Merry Men and the Buddies, but another incredible game by Refugees QB Josh Allen (3 TDs through the air and 3 TDs on the ground!) made this a three-horse race and locked in another 200+ point season for Allen, who has now crossed that threshold an amazing 5 years in a row. He and the Refugees will square off against the Buddies this week for a chance to take on the Merry Men in the AFC Championship.
Over in the NFC, the Brothers hung onto the Wild Card with a 48-45 victory over the Huskers and the Beans fell to the Chickens by just 2 points as RB Rico Dowdle was unable to find the end zone for the Huskers and QB Joe Burrow continued his magical run for the Beans with 3 touchdowns, but came up just short.
Despite being the consensus favorites heading into the season, the Brothers had to overcome the loss of 280 combined points between defending MVP Christian McCaffrey and RB Raheem Mostert from a year ago, making their return to the playoffs a remarkable achievement. The Brothers will take on the White Guys next week for the right to battle the Chickens in the NFC Championship.
With that, another YFFL regular season comes to a close and the road to Super Bowl XXXII begins. Will owner Steve Dugas be able to capture the Merry Men's third title and first in over a decade? Will Anthony Aceto bring home his fifth title in the last eight years? Or can owner Mike Kinsman and GM Nick Wood parlay their continued regular season dominance into a fourth championship for the Buddies or Chickens? We'll find out starting this week!
