With several 1st Rounders changing hands, expect some roster overhauls in this year’s YFFL Draft. Extra picks belong to the Huskers (2 picks), the Llamas (2 picks), and the Eaters (2 picks) as they look to accelerate rebuilds and tighten division races. YFFL Draft Guru Steve Dugas has watched the tape and forecasts picks 1-16.
1. Huskers
RB Ashton Jeanty LV
The rebuild has taken close to 15 years but it finally appears to be done. Drafting Jeanty is like putting the sod down after a big home project. If Jeanty is even half as good as he was in college and Harrison improves, the Huskers will be a real problem this year.
2. Market Thugs
WR Travis Hunter JAX
The 2010 World Champion Thugs continue to build out one of the most impressive WR rooms since the Mallards of a decade ago (Diggs/Hill/Megatron/Evans/Crabtree). Hunter has a Justin Jefferson level ceiling.
3. Apple Eaters
RB Omarion Hampton LAC
The Eaters will be sweating right up until the Thugs take Hunter as they desperately need a top RB prospect. Hampton would be the best RB they've had since another Charger once roamed the halls at the Eaters facilities, Melvin Gordon.
4. Bear
WR Emeka Egbuka TB
Sometimes fantasy football doesn't have to be hard. The Bear roster is in shambles and stacking Egbuka with Mayfield is a good first step to getting back into playoff contention. Egbuka is going to be a stud.
5. Llamas
RB TreyVeon Henderson NE
Gibby can go best player available and he takes Henderson to pair with Barkley. No lead will be safe when playing the Llamas as he'll have two players who are constantly breaking off 60-yard TD runs.
6. Big Boys
WR Tetairoa McMillan CAR
If the Big Boys can hit on a WR in this spot they will be a very good bet to win the NFC East this year.
7. Snapdragons
QB Cam Ward TEN
It's just hitting me today that Jon has named his team after a flower... is that true? Anyways... The Dragons have been suffering through QB mediocrity ever since the MVP days of Aaron Rodgers ended. Lawrence can't be counted on to be good or healthy, so Jon makes the move to get a QB with a ton of upside.
8. Asian Orangutangs
WR Matthew Golden GB
We have our first surprise pick of the draft. Most probably think the 'Tangs go RB but I think it's unlikely. Harvey gives them too much Denver exposure and Kaleb Johnson might be too slow for the NFL, so Jon pivots and takes the WR shooting up draft boards this summer.
9. Huskers (via Mallards)
WR Isaac Teslaa DET
Sometimes you just have to make a bold move and go and get your guy. Shades of Ameer Abdullah back in 2015 with this pick. That was the last time we watched a Lion blow up in the preseason and launch himself into the top half of the YFFL draft.
10. Beans
RB RJ Harvey DEN
The Beans add to what suddenly looks like a half-decent RB room. If Harvey gets the touches he is going to produce.
11. Buddies
RB Kaleb Johnson PIT
Once Johnson is knighted by Mike he will have yet another bell-cow on his roster. Mixon likely washed?? No problem! Just insert Kaleb Johnson, then compete for a playoff spot. Buddies would probably prefer a WR to join their roster but Mike will take the best player available.
12. White Guys
WR Kyle Williams NE
I had Stefon Diggs penciled in here. I thought we were finally seeing someone cut a player just to get him to their other team in the first round. It was either that or Aceto had been kidnapped and cutting Diggs was his way of alerting us without his captors knowing.
13. Refugees
QB Jaxson Dart NYG
Dart has looked fantastic so far and Aceto will pounce on him to back up Allen if he drops this far in the draft.
14. Chickens
RB Quinshon Judkins Unsigned Draftee of CLE
Mike makes a high upside pick when Nick fails to join the draft while getting everyone in the hockey carpool home after practice. Judkins probably would have been a top five pick if he had not been arrested. Now he is either the steal of the draft or will be a massive bust. Will be interesting to see if he goes in the first or second round.
15. Llamas (via Brothers)
TE Coleston Loveland CHI
Nothing like stacking Bears in your starting lineup, I mean what could go wrong??
16. Apple Eaters (via Merry Men)
TE Tyler Warren IND
Not sure what all the hype about Warren is for... He played in college for 5 years and didn't break out until he was 23 and everyone else was 19. Either way the Eaters are happy to get their answer to all the other great TEs in their division.
