With just two games left in the YFFL regular season, the Asian Orangutangs may be finding their stride at the perfect moment. Their late surge has stirred memories of 2023, when the Tangs shook off a sluggish start, caught fire in December, and stormed all the way to the franchise's third Super Bowl championship.
Their latest performance was one for the record books. The Tangs exploded for a new single game franchise high of 97 points in Week 12 behind three touchdowns from QB Dak Prescott and another three from RB Jahmyr Gibbs. It capped a blistering three week stretch in which they have averaged more than 68 points per game and vaulted themselves back into the hunt for the team's 10th division crown and first since 2020.
But the path forward is anything but easy. The Tangs remain locked in a three way battle for the AFC East title. They are tied with the Llamas at 7-5, and the Refugees remain very much alive at 6-6 despite an almost unheard of zero point outing from defending MVP Josh Allen in Week 12. The Tangs will meet the Llamas in Week 13 in a heavyweight matchup with major playoff implications, while Allen will try to quickly erase last week's anomaly as the Refugees face Bear Poop in a must win game.
In the AFC West, the Buddies continued to push their advantage over the Merry Men. Even Daunte Culpepper's Cameo rally cry could not slow them down, and the Buddies now sit on the threshold of both the division title and a first round bye. Over in the NFC East, the Mallards climbed into first place thanks to a win combined with a loss by the White Guys. And out west, both the Brothers and the Huskers kept pace. The Brothers cruised to a comfortable victory, while the Huskers needed every last point of a tense Monday night finish to stay level in the NFC West race.
With only two weeks remaining and crucial matchups sprinkled across the schedule, the playoff picture remains crowded and unpredictable. One thing is clear: the YFFL looks destined for another dramatic, down to the wire finish.
