After weeks of uncertainty, the NFC playoff picture finally came into focus as the 2025 regular season reached its dramatic conclusion. With most postseason spots already spoken for, all eyes were on the NFC East and the final Wild Card berth, both of which were hanging in the balance heading into Week 14.
The White Guys entered the week holding a narrow lead in the NFC East, but their grip on the division began to slip almost immediately. On Thursday night, Big Boys kicker Jake Bates delivered 14 points to put the White Guys in an early deficit. Things only worsened on Sunday as Boys quarterback J.J. McCarthy opened the scoring barrage with three quick touchdowns. While the White Guys struggled to keep pace, the Mallards were flying high. Thanks to four early touchdowns from wideouts Tee Higgins and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Mallards surged ahead and never looked back. Their 52-25 victory, combined with the White Guys' 52-35 loss, created a tie atop the standings. The Mallards claimed the division crown on point differential, earning their first NFC East title since 2019.
The shifting landscape brought relief for the Huskers. Despite a gritty 55-54 loss to the Brothers, the Huskers secured the NFC Wild Card on the strength of their season total of 687 points, edging out the White Guys for the final playoff spot. The performance was also an encouraging rebound from the previous week's disappointing 16 point outing that nearly derailed their postseason hopes.
With the dust settled, the bracket is set and the YFFL's six highest scoring teams are ready to fight for a place in Super Bowl XXXIII. The defending champion Merry Men begin their title defense against the AFC East champion Orangutangs, a team that enters the playoffs playing its best football of the year. Over in the NFC, the Mallards and Huskers will clash in a matchup between two franchises eager to reestablish themselves after missing the postseason in recent years.
Meanwhile, the top seeds wait for their challengers. The Brothers will look to make their third straight trip to the Super Bowl as they continue their pursuit of an elusive first championship, while the Buddies earned the AFC's top spot and will aim to break through after several recent playoff letdowns. Both teams are rested, motivated, and dangerous.
The field is set. The stakes are high. The road to Super Bowl XXXIII starts now.
