Maye Day

Maye Day

The White Guys had spent four weeks looking for their first win. When it finally arrived, they nearly needed a third digit on the scoreboard.

Behind Drake Maye's 34 points, the White Guys overwhelmed the Huskers 99-24, smashing their franchise scoring record and providing the most dramatic reversal in a week full of them. The Merry Men and Refugees both suffered their first losses, the Thugs finally joined the win column, and the Brothers pulled even with the AFC leaders at 4-1.

After a month of watching the favorites separate themselves, the rest of the league had something to say.

A Record Rebound

One week after watching the Merry Men set a franchise record against them, the White Guys put together a record performance of their own. Their 99 surpassed the franchise's previous high of 81 against the Chickens in Week 14 of 2019. A team that had scored just 119 points through its first four games nearly matched that total in one game.

Maye supplied the biggest share, throwing for 374 yards and accounting for five touchdowns. His 34 points alone would have beaten the Huskers, but the White Guys did not leave him to handle things himself.

James Cook III and Parker Washington each scored twice and contributed 16 points. DeMario Douglas added two touchdowns and 14, Tyler Bass supplied 11, and Rhamondre Stevenson chipped in eight. Even with two scoreless starters, the White Guys finished a point short of 100.

The Huskers received 14 points from Ka'imi Fairbairn but only 10 from the rest of their lineup. At 1-4, the White Guys still have plenty of ground to make up. They finally have a performance worth building on.

Nobody's Perfect

The Llamas ended the Merry Men's perfect start with a 61-54 victory, snapping their own three-game losing streak. Aaron Rodgers delivered three touchdowns and 18 points, Isaiah Likely scored twice for 14, and Wil Lutz added 11.

The defending champions still got 14 from Brock Purdy and 10 apiece from Malik Nabers and Brock Bowers, but CeeDee Lamb was held scoreless and Bijan Robinson managed four. A week after all eight starters contributed to a franchise record, the Merry Men found themselves on the wrong side of the week's closest game.

The Refugees had a rougher landing. The previously winless Thugs beat them 56-33 behind 18 points each from Jacoby Brissett and Jaylen Warren. Warren combined 101 rushing yards, 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while new waiver pickup Will Shipley added six.

Josh Allen matched Brissett's 18 points, but the Refugees received points from only two other lineup spots. Both AFC division leaders are now 4-1, and their cushions have narrowed.

The Chase Tightens

The Eaters moved within a half-game of the Merry Men by beating the Poop 69-44. Jordan Love and Bucky Irving scored 18 apiece, leaving the Poop as the league's only winless team. In the AFC East, Jahmyr Gibbs' 20 points powered the Orangutangs past the Buddies 61-37 and within a game of the Refugees.

The Brothers, meanwhile, won their fourth straight, beating the Mallards 73-41 behind Jared Goff's 24 points and Jason Myers' 17. All eight starters scored, and the Brothers now share the league's best record.

Joe Burrow's 24 points helped the Beans hand the Dragons a second straight loss, 67-46, while the Chickens beat the Boys 42-21 behind 14 from Davante Adams and 12 from Mike Evans.

Next up for the White Guys: the Brothers. One win has not erased their slow start, but after 99 points, that matchup looks considerably more interesting.
